How Does mfpen Fit? Size and Fit Guide
Straight Cut Jeans, Generation Trousers, Terrain Jacket, Union Jacket, Gambler and Executive Shirt: the mfpen fits in the AURA selection compared size by size using the official charts. Widths, lengths, measured differences and a method for choosing your size.
mfpen does not have a single fit. The Copenhagen label states a different fit for each model: "regular" for the Leisure Zip Up, "relaxed" for the Executive Shirt and the Union Jacket, "relaxed straight" for its trousers, "relaxed boxy" for the Rolodex Polo and "oversized" for the Gambler Shirt. In the same size, two mfpen pieces do not have the same volume: the model matters more than the label. This guide compares the mfpen pieces in the AURA selection using the size charts mfpen publishes, measured flat and in centimetres, and points out what the brand does not publish. The full selection is in the mfpen collection.
In short
- Trousers: the Straight Cut Jeans and the Generation Trousers have the same stated fit (relaxed straight, mid-rise) and the same flat waist (44 cm in a medium). In a medium, the jeans are 1.5 cm wider at the hem.
- Roomiest shirt: the Gambler Shirt, oversized according to mfpen. In a medium, it is 2 cm wider than the Executive Shirt but 2 cm shorter.
- Widest top relative to its length: the Covet Full Zip, 64 cm wide for 66.5 cm long in a medium.
- Terrain Jacket: the reference sold at AURA is the one mfpen lists in its womenswear (Womens Terrain Jacket), regular fit. mfpen advises sizing up for a relaxed look.
- No general rule: mfpen publishes no general rule saying the brand runs large or small. The volume of the Gambler or the Covet is built into the pattern.
The main mfpen fits at AURA
Fit: the term mfpen uses on the product page. Key measurement: mfpen chart in a medium, pit-to-pit width × front length for tops, flat waist for trousers.

Every mfpen chart quoted here gives garment measurements taken flat, in centimetres. mfpen notes that measurements can vary slightly from garment to garment.
How do mfpen trousers fit?
For its trousers, mfpen publishes three measurements: waist width, full length and hem width. The brand does not publish rise, inside leg or thigh width. Waist width is a flat measurement, not a circumference: 44 cm in a medium, taken with the waistband laid flat. To compare with trousers you own, measure them the same way rather than doubling mfpen's figure.

Straight Cut Jeans in Brushed Gull Twill and Generation Trousers in Anthracite. mfpen images, on two different models: the photos are not to the same scale.
mfpen Straight Cut Jeans
A relaxed straight fit with a mid-rise according to mfpen, with side pockets, rear patch pockets, flower rivets, a metal button and a YKK zip fly. The Straight Cut Jeans Brushed Gull Twill is cut from mineral-dyed organic cotton denim with a brushed surface, garment washed and preshrunk; fabric and garment made in Portugal. mfpen recommends a cold wash, inside out to limit fading. At mfpen, each size comes in two lengths, labelled 32 and 34. The "32" in variants such as "S / 32" or "M / 32" is therefore the length option, not a waist size: mfpen writes it as "Length 32" on other colours. The mfpen model is 1.88 m tall and wears a medium in length 32.
| Size | Waist width | Full length (32) | Full length (34) | Hem width |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 40 cm | 109.6 cm | 115.6 cm | 25.5 cm |
| S | 42 cm | 110.3 cm | 116.3 cm | 26 cm |
| M | 44 cm | 111 cm | 117 cm | 26.5 cm |
| L | 46 cm | 111.7 cm | 117.7 cm | 27 cm |
| XL | 48 cm | 112.4 cm | 118.4 cm | 27.5 cm |
| XXL | 50 cm | 113.1 cm | 119.1 cm | 28 cm |
The variants on AURA's product page are labelled S, M and L, with no length shown. To find out the length of the pair you are interested in, contact the AURA team before ordering.
mfpen Generation Trousers
The same stated fit as the jeans: relaxed straight, mid-rise. The Generation Trousers Anthracite Amplified Cord is cut from wide-wale cotton corduroy, garment washed and preshrunk; fabric and garment made in Portugal, cold wash. Side pockets, rear patch pockets, coin pocket, rivets, metal button and YKK zip fly. It comes in a single length. The mfpen model is 1.84 m tall and wears a medium.
| Size | Waist width | Full length | Hem width |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 40 cm | 109.5 cm | 24 cm |
| S | 42 cm | 110 cm | 24.5 cm |
| M | 44 cm | 110.5 cm | 25 cm |
| L | 46 cm | 111 cm | 25.5 cm |
| XL | 48 cm | 111.5 cm | 26 cm |
| XXL | 50 cm | 112 cm | 26.5 cm |
Straight Cut Jeans or Generation Trousers?
| Size | Waist width (jeans / Generation) | Full length: jeans (32) difference | Hem width: jeans difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 40 cm / 40 cm | +0.1 cm | +1.5 cm |
| S | 42 cm / 42 cm | +0.3 cm | +1.5 cm |
| M | 44 cm / 44 cm | +0.5 cm | +1.5 cm |
| L | 46 cm / 46 cm | +0.7 cm | +1.5 cm |
| XL | 48 cm / 48 cm | +0.9 cm | +1.5 cm |
| XXL | 50 cm / 50 cm | +1.1 cm | +1.5 cm |
What the figures show: in every size, both trousers have exactly the same waist width. The Straight Cut Jeans is 1.5 cm wider at the hem in every size. In length 32, it is also slightly longer: from 0.1 cm in XS to 1.1 cm in XXL. These measurements say nothing about the rise or the thigh, which mfpen does not publish: the data cannot show that one is roomier than the other at the top of the leg. The choice comes down first to fabric: brushed denim or wide-wale corduroy.
How do mfpen jackets fit?

Terrain Jacket in Anthracite and Union Jacket in Rinsed Black, AURA photos: same model (1.80 m, 65 kg), same setting, size medium in both.
mfpen Terrain Jacket
The Terrain Jacket Anthracite sold at AURA carries the code W126-013: it is the reference mfpen publishes as the "Womens Terrain Jacket", in its womenswear line. mfpen describes it as a regular fit with raglan sleeves, and adds sizing advice: size up for a more relaxed fit. Placket with button loop fastening, two-way zip, welt pockets, adjustable cuff tabs, an interior pocket, and adjustable strings at the waist and hem. Garment-washed cotton in a dark grey herringbone twill, 100% cotton, fabric and garment made in Portugal, dry clean only according to mfpen. The mfpen model is 1.73 m tall and wears a medium; at AURA, our 1.80 m, 65 kg male model also wears a medium.
| Size | Front length | Pit to pit | Sleeve from neckline |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 72 cm | 61.5 cm | 74.7 cm |
| S | 73 cm | 63.5 cm | 75.7 cm |
| M | 74 cm | 65.5 cm | 76.7 cm |
| L | 75 cm | 67.5 cm | 77.7 cm |
| XL | 76 cm | 69.5 cm | 78.7 cm |
mfpen also publishes a Terrain Jacket in its menswear line (code M126-026), which is not the one sold at AURA. In the same size, the men's version is 3 cm longer, 1.5 cm wider and has 4.3 cm more sleeve, from XS to XL. A large in the Womens version (67.5 cm wide) is almost as wide as a men's medium (67 cm), but 2 cm shorter with 3.3 cm less sleeve. mfpen's two pages are not consistent: the men's version is described as "relaxed fit" in its description and "regular fit" in its size note.
mfpen Union Jacket
A relaxed fit with drop shoulders and a spread collar, side welt pockets, metal button closure and flower rivets at the sleeves and side seams. The Union Jacket Rinsed Black is cut from garment-washed organic cotton denim, with a vintage finish that makes each piece unique; made in Portugal, dry clean only according to AURA's product page. At AURA, our 1.80 m, 65 kg model wears a medium. mfpen's page for this SS26 colour is no longer online: no chart is available. The Union Jacket currently on mfpen's website is a different reference, in a different denim: its chart is not used here.
Terrain Jacket or Union Jacket?
| Terrain Jacket (AURA) | Union Jacket (AURA) | |
|---|---|---|
| Fit according to mfpen | Regular | Relaxed |
| Shoulder | Raglan sleeves | Drop shoulders |
| Adjustments | Strings at waist and hem, cuff tabs | None |
| Closure | Two-way zip and button placket | Metal buttons |
| Fabric | Garment-washed cotton herringbone | Garment-washed organic cotton denim |
| Published measurements | Yes (Womens version) | Not for this colour |
Without a chart for the Union Jacket in Rinsed Black, the difference in volume between the two jackets cannot be quantified. The difference in pattern is documented: raglan sleeves and a regular fit on one side, drop shoulders and a relaxed fit on the other. The Terrain can be drawn in at the waist and hem with its strings; the Union has no adjustment.
How do mfpen shirts fit?
For its shirts, mfpen publishes four flat measurements: front length, pit-to-pit width, shoulder-to-shoulder width and sleeve length from the shoulder. Both shirts in the selection are measured the same way, which allows a direct comparison.

Gambler Shirt in Black Fuzz Tencel and Executive Shirt in Dark Brown Stripe. mfpen images, on two different 1.88 m models, each wearing a medium.
mfpen Gambler Shirt
An oversized fit according to mfpen, with drop shoulders, a curved hem, a spread collar and a button placket. The Gambler Shirt Black Fuzz Tencel is cut from garment-dyed Tencel® jersey in a washed black, with an intentional subtle pilling effect; fabric and garment made in Portugal, cold wash. Jersey is a knit, not a woven like poplin: it drapes differently, which the measurements do not show. The mfpen model is 1.88 m tall and wears a medium.
| Size | Front length | Pit to pit | Shoulder to shoulder | Sleeve from shoulder |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 74 cm | 62 cm | 52.5 cm | 59 cm |
| S | 75 cm | 64 cm | 54.5 cm | 60 cm |
| M | 76 cm | 66 cm | 56.5 cm | 61 cm |
| L | 77 cm | 68 cm | 58.5 cm | 62.5 cm |
| XL | 78 cm | 70 cm | 60.5 cm | 64 cm |
| XXL | 79 cm | 72 cm | 62.5 cm | 65.5 cm |
mfpen Executive Shirt
A relaxed fit according to mfpen, with a button placket, spread collar, back yoke pleats and a chest pocket. The Executive Shirt Dark Brown Stripe is cut from a lightweight cotton poplin with a dry hand feel, a black multi stripe on a deep brown ground; garment washed, fabric and garment made in Portugal, cold wash. The mfpen model is 1.88 m tall and wears a medium.
| Size | Front length | Pit to pit | Shoulder to shoulder | Sleeve from shoulder |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 76 cm | 60 cm | 53 cm | 60 cm |
| S | 77 cm | 62 cm | 55 cm | 61 cm |
| M | 78 cm | 64 cm | 57 cm | 62 cm |
| L | 79 cm | 66 cm | 59 cm | 63.5 cm |
| XL | 80 cm | 68 cm | 61 cm | 65 cm |
| XXL | 81 cm | 70 cm | 63 cm | 66.5 cm |
Gambler or Executive?
| Model (M) | Width | Shoulders | Length | Sleeve | Width / length ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gambler | 66 cm | 56.5 cm | 76 cm | 61 cm | 0.87 |
| Executive | 64 cm | 57 cm | 78 cm | 62 cm | 0.82 |
In every size, the Gambler is 2 cm wider than the Executive, 2 cm shorter, 0.5 cm narrower at the shoulder and 1 cm shorter in the sleeve. Its oversized volume therefore sits in the body width, not in the shoulders, which are almost identical on both shirts. The width-to-length ratio, calculated by AURA from mfpen's published measurements, goes from 0.82 for the Executive to 0.87 for the Gambler: the Gambler is wider and shorter, the Executive longer and cleaner.
How do mfpen tops fit?

Covet Full Zip in Black, Rolodex Polo in Grey Bouclé Rib and Leisure Zip Up in Grey Herringbone. mfpen images, different models: not to the same scale.
Covet Full Zip: relaxed fit with drop shoulders according to mfpen, high neck, YKK two-way zip, side welt pockets, gathered cuffs and hem. Garment-washed cotton rib (57% cotton, 43% organic cotton), made in Portugal. mfpen model 1.84 m tall in a medium.
Rolodex Polo: the only model in the selection that mfpen describes as "relaxed boxy", with drop shoulders, an open placket, flatlock seams and split side seams. Garment-washed bouclé rib (60% recycled polyester, 40% organic cotton), made in Portugal. mfpen model 1.88 m tall in a large, not a medium as on the other models.
Leisure Zip Up: regular fit with raglan sleeves according to mfpen, stand collar, two-way zip, reversed flatlock seams. Two-tone grey cotton herringbone jersey, made in Portugal. mfpen model 1.88 m tall in a medium.
| Model (M) | Width | Front length | Shoulders | Sleeve | Width / length ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Covet Full Zip | 64 cm | 66.5 cm | 56.5 cm | 62.5 cm (from shoulder) | 0.96 |
| Rolodex Polo | 60.5 cm | 66 cm | 61 cm | 53.5 cm (from shoulder) | 0.92 |
| Leisure Zip Up | 59.5 cm | 67 cm | Not published | 80.3 cm (from neckline) | 0.89 |
In a medium, the Covet Full Zip is the widest of the three relative to its length (ratio 0.96, calculated by AURA). The Rolodex Polo, which mfpen calls boxy, has the widest shoulder measurement (61 cm against 56.5 cm for the Covet), but it is 3.5 cm narrower than the Covet pit to pit. On a drop-shoulder piece, a larger shoulder measurement mainly means the shoulder seam sits lower on the arm. The Leisure Zip Up's sleeve is measured from the neckline because of its raglan sleeves: it cannot be compared with sleeves measured from the shoulder. The Leisure Zip Up can, however, be compared with the Terrain Jacket, measured the same way: in a medium, the Terrain is 6 cm wider and 7 cm longer.
The Formal Cardigan Black Stripe, from the SS26 season, is described on AURA's product page as a relaxed fit with drop shoulders, in cotton rib (Italian yarn, made in Portugal). mfpen no longer publishes its page or its measurements, so it is not compared here.
Which mfpen size should you choose?
- Size system. mfpen uses letter sizes, XS to XXL for menswear and XS to XL for womenswear. At AURA, pieces are offered in S, M and L. The jeans add a length option, 32 or 34.
- One official recommendation. Among the models in the selection, mfpen only gives sizing advice for the Womens Terrain Jacket: your usual size for the regular look, one size up for a relaxed look.
- Trousers. Compare the flat waist (44 cm in a medium) with that of trousers that fit you, also measured flat. Straight Cut and Generation have the same flat waist: the same size will fit you at the waist on both.
- Shirts and tops. Compare the pit-to-pit width and the front length. The volume of the Gambler, the Covet or the Rolodex is built into the pattern: sizing down reduces it but changes the silhouette mfpen intended.
- Jackets. For the Terrain Jacket, bear in mind that it is the Womens version: in the same size, it is shorter and has a shorter sleeve than the men's version mfpen publishes.
| Model | Model height | Size worn | Source |

This describes what the models wear, not a recommendation: two people of the same height do not have the same build.
Comparing with a garment you already own
The most reliable method is to measure a garment of the same category that fits you, laid flat, and compare it with the mfpen chart for the model you want. mfpen does not detail its measuring points; the guide below follows the headings of its charts.
For trousers or jeans
- Lay the trousers flat, fly closed.
- Waist: measure the waistband from edge to edge without stretching it. Compare directly with mfpen's waist width, without doubling.
- Full length: from the top of the waistband to the hem, along the outside seam.
- Hem width: flat, from one edge of the hem to the other.
- Rise, inside leg and thigh: useful for you, but mfpen does not publish them; rely on the fit description and the photos.
For a shirt, top or jacket
- Width: flat, from one armpit to the other. Do not double it: mfpen's figures are widths.
- Front length: from the highest point of the shoulder seam to the hem.
- Shoulders: from one shoulder seam to the other. On a drop-shoulder piece, this measurement is naturally larger.
- Sleeve: from the shoulder seam for shirts and most tops; from the neckline for raglan sleeves (Terrain Jacket, Leisure Zip Up).
Which mfpen model should you choose?
For a straight-leg trouser
The Straight Cut Jeans or the Generation Trousers: the same relaxed straight fit and the same flat waist. The jeans are 1.5 cm wider at the hem and come in two lengths; the Generation is in wide-wale corduroy.
For a roomy shirt
The Gambler Shirt: oversized according to mfpen, the wider of the two shirts (66 cm in a medium), but shorter (76 cm).
For a cleaner shirt
The Executive Shirt: relaxed according to mfpen, longer (78 cm in a medium) and narrower than the Gambler, in poplin with a chest pocket.
For an adjustable jacket
The Terrain Jacket: regular fit, raglan sleeves, strings at the waist and hem. The Womens version at mfpen: size up for more room.
For a more relaxed jacket
The Union Jacket: relaxed fit with drop shoulders, in organic cotton denim, with no adjustment.
For a wide, short top
The Covet Full Zip: 64 cm wide for 66.5 cm long in a medium, the highest width-to-length ratio in the selection.

mfpen in brief
mfpen was founded in Copenhagen in 2016 by Sigurd Bank. The label describes its work as reinterpreting classic garments through relaxed silhouettes, building on European tailoring, with a commitment to responsible production. Its material hierarchy puts European deadstock fabrics from industry surplus first, then recycled and biodegradable options, with certified organic cotton as the last resort. mfpen has a store in Copenhagen and was a semi-finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2025. To see mfpen alongside the other Nordic labels in the selection, browse our Scandinavian menswear brands.

Frequently asked questions
How does mfpen fit?
It depends on the model. mfpen states regular, relaxed, relaxed straight, relaxed boxy or oversized fits depending on the piece, and publishes a chart for each, measured flat in centimetres. Compare the chart for the model you want rather than relying on your usual size alone.
Does mfpen run large?
There is no general rule. The Gambler Shirt is oversized by design, the Executive Shirt relaxed and the Leisure Zip Up regular. mfpen does not advise sizing down; the only advice published for the selection concerns the Womens Terrain Jacket, sizing up for a relaxed look.
Which mfpen size should I choose?
Measure a garment of the same category that fits you, laid flat, and compare it with the model's chart: waist width and hem width for trousers, pit-to-pit width and front length for tops. mfpen's 1.84 to 1.88 m models generally wear a medium.
How does the Terrain Jacket fit?
The Terrain Jacket sold at AURA is mfpen's Womens version: a regular fit with raglan sleeves, 65.5 cm wide and 74 cm long in a medium. mfpen advises sizing up for a relaxed look. At AURA, our 1.80 m, 65 kg male model wears a medium.
How do the Straight Cut Jeans fit?
A relaxed straight fit with a mid-rise: 44 cm flat waist and 26.5 cm hem in a medium. The "32" or "34" shown with the size is the length option, not a waist size.
What is the difference between the Straight Cut Jeans and the Generation Trousers?
The same stated fit and the same flat waist. The jeans are 1.5 cm wider at the hem in every size and come in two lengths; the Generation is in wide-wale corduroy. mfpen does not publish rise or thigh.
What is the difference between the Terrain Jacket and the Union Jacket?
The Terrain has a regular fit with raglan sleeves and strings at the waist and hem; the Union has a relaxed fit with drop shoulders, in denim, with no adjustment. mfpen publishes no measurements for the Union Jacket in Rinsed Black, so the difference in volume cannot be quantified.
What is the difference between the Gambler and the Executive Shirt?
In every size, the Gambler is 2 cm wider and 2 cm shorter than the Executive, with almost identical shoulders. The Gambler is in Tencel® jersey, the Executive in cotton poplin.
Where can I buy mfpen in France?
At AURA, in Rennes, in store and online at aura-estore.com, with delivery across France and Europe.
