Vous Décidez: the Copenhagen Deadstock Label, the Find Shirt and Sizing

Vous Décidez, styled by the brand as "vous décidez", is an independent Copenhagen label founded in 2020. Every piece is cut from fabric that already existed: end-of-line rolls and production surplus, known as deadstock. Its central piece is the Find Shirt, a relaxed shirt the brand remakes in a new fabric with each release. This guide explains the brand's approach, what makes a Find Shirt, the other pieces we have selected and how they fit, based on the charts the brand publishes. An independent label founded in Copenhagen in 2020

Vous Décidez was founded in 2020 in Copenhagen by Marcus Rømer. The name is French for "you decide": the brand presents it as a daily reminder to pursue what you are passionate about, whether that means fitting a hobby into everyday life or achieving a long-held dream.

The brand has its studio shop in Copenhagen, and its clothes are made in specialist factories in Portugal and Italy, each chosen for its product category. It says it visits these factories regularly and works with partners that treat their employees well.

The "Tonality Report": the same pieces, new fabrics

Vous Décidez does not think in collections that start from scratch. The brand borrows the musical idea of tonality, where the harmony revolves around a central tone, and applies it to its wardrobe. Its central products, such as the Find Shirt, are constantly refined and updated. With each release, which it calls a "report", they come back in a new selection of leftover or recycled fabrics.

New styles are designed with these central pieces as the reference point. The stated aim is to let you combine pieces from different releases easily. Each report also depends on the fabrics the brand has found during that period.

Fabrics that already existed

At Vous Décidez, deadstock means quality fabric left over from earlier production runs or from cancelled orders. For knitwear, the brand uses 100% recycled monofibre yarns. Fabrics and yarns come from several places in Europe, particularly Italy and Portugal.

• when the deadstock it finds is itself made from organic or recycled fibres, the brand gives it priority;
• new materials are only used for finishing touches, such as T-shirt ribbing, pocket linings or buttons, and only when they cannot be found as deadstock;
• shipping boxes are recycled or FSC-certified, bags are recycled plastic and hangtags are recycled paper.

Deadstock fabric exists, by definition, in limited quantities: a Find Shirt that sells out in one fabric will not necessarily return in the same one, but the style comes back in other fabrics from one report to the next.

The Find Shirt, the central piece

The Find Shirt is the brand's most widely reissued style: there are more than thirty versions on the Vous Décidez web shop. The base stays the same from one version to the next:

• relaxed fit, slightly dropped shoulders and a slightly extended back;
• spread collar and French fold placket;
• mother-of-pearl buttons;
• curved hem and curved cuffs;
• made in Portugal.

What changes is the fabric. Here are the versions available at AURA, with the details published by the brand:

The lightest versions (100 to 134 g/m²) work well worn open over a T-shirt; the Retro Rope Stripe, which the brand describes as a soft, structured medium-weight fabric, also works on its own, buttoned up. All our shirts are in the shirts category.

Around the Find Shirt, the brand applies the same logic to other central pieces:

• the Curve Pants, relaxed trousers with large rounded front pockets and round back pockets, here in a 350 g/m² dark brown cotton and elastane twill, an Italian fabric;
• the Rib Longsleeve and the Pass Longsleeve, two relaxed long-sleeve tops with slightly dropped shoulders, a slightly cropped length and tonal flatlock stitching;
• the Stand Zip, a full-zip track top with a high funnel neck, in houndstooth or jacquard;
• the Rib Zip in rib fabric and the Light Zip Top in fleece, two light zip tops for transitional weather;
• the Rag Zip, a wide-fit jersey jacket with raglan sleeves, fully lined;
• the Good Polo, knitted in Italy from a deadstock yarn of half recycled cotton, half cotton.

How does Vous Décidez fit?

For the Find Shirt, the brand is clear: relaxed fit, take your usual size. The room comes from the cut (dropped shoulders, extended back), so there is no need to size up.

Here is the chart Vous Décidez publishes for the Find Shirt. These are garment measurements taken flat, in centimetres: width is measured from armpit to armpit and length at the front. The easiest way to use it is to compare with a shirt you like, laid flat.

We stock the Find Shirt in S, M and L. The model in the brand's photos, who is 190 cm tall, wears an L.

Curve Pants: size up. This is the brand's exception. The Curve Pants have a relaxed fit but come up small: Vous Décidez recommends taking one size above your usual size. Official chart, flat measurements in cm:

The waist is measured flat with the waistband closed: compare it with the waistband of trousers that fit you, laid flat in the same way.

The other pieces. The brand does not publish the same information for everything. Here is what it states for the pieces in our selection:

• Rib Longsleeve, Pass Longsleeve, Stand Zip, Light Zip Top, Good Polo: relaxed fit; for the Pass Longsleeve, the brand specifies taking your usual size to keep the intended slightly cropped body and long sleeves;
• Rib Zip: regular fit, with the note that the rib fabric will expand a little over time;
• Rag Zip: wide, oversized fit.
