Pop Trading Company: the Amsterdam Brand's Story, DRS Jeans and Size Guide
Founded in Amsterdam in 2013 by two former skate shop staff, Pop Trading Company blends skate culture and menswear. The brand's story, DRS jeans, hoodies, jackets and size guide.
Pop Trading Company is an Amsterdam brand founded in 2013 by Peter Kolks and Ric van Rest, two former skate shop staff. It started out distributing skate brands across the Benelux before launching its own line, whose first collection came out for autumn-winter 2016. Its formula: 1990s skate culture, with the cut, fabrics and restraint of a menswear label. This guide covers the brand's story, its key pieces (the DRS jeans, the hooded sweats, the jackets) and how they fit, based on the measurement charts Pop publishes. The full selection is in the Pop Trading Company collection.

From an Arnhem skate shop to Amsterdam
Peter Kolks and Ric van Rest met while working at Frisco, a skate shop in Arnhem, in the east of the Netherlands. In 2013, they set up a distribution company in Amsterdam for skate brands such as Palace, Polar and Magenta. From the start the project was backed by Ido de Vos, who runs the Amsterdam store 290SQM, where Peter Kolks worked.
The Pop Trading Company line was developed in 2015 and its first collection came out for autumn-winter 2016. Its first stockists included Supreme Paris, Slam City Skates and Civilist. The brand also backs a skate team and has been releasing its black and white "Pop clips" since 2014. Its store is now on Sint Annendwarsstraat, in central Amsterdam.
Why "Pop Trading Company"?
Peter Kolks explained it in an interview: "pop" is the skater's move of snapping the tail of the board to make it lift off. "Trading Company" refers to the company's first trade, wholesaling boards and clothing. The logo follows the same idea: the O in the middle stands for Pop, the middleman, and the two Ps for the brands and the customers.
The positioning comes down to one line from the co-founder: a skate brand designed like a menswear brand, or the other way round. In practice that means clean cuts, production largely in Portugal and a list of collaborations that goes well beyond skating: Carhartt WIP and Miffy in 2019, Burberry in 2022, adidas and Paul Smith in 2023, Japanese denim specialist Fullcount in 2025 and Blundstone in 2026.
Pop Trading Company key pieces
The DRS jeans, the brand's wide fit
The DRS is Pop's signature trouser: a "straight loose" fit, straight and roomy, in 100% cotton, with a button fly, an embroidered logo on the coin pocket and a "Pop Jeans" patch on the back of the waistband. It is part of the brand's permanent collection and comes in several washes each season. In 2026 Pop introduced an AMS fit, which it describes as "less wide than our DRS": the DRS therefore remains its roomiest model. At AURA, it comes in raw denim with an embroidered arch logo, distressed denim, rinsed indigo and black, as well as the Seam version and the Longer DRS short.

The hooded sweats
The Logo Hooded Sweat carries the brand's codes: a three-panel hood, a V insert at the neck, round drawcords with metal tips and a Pop logo printed on the back. Pop states a heavyweight 430 GSM cotton on the Dutch Blue version, made in Portugal. This season, AURA stocks the Logo Hooded Sweat in heather off white, the Dutch Blue, the Outlined Logo Hooded Terry Sweat in terry (80% cotton, 20% polyester) and the black Sketchy Hooded Sweat with raglan sleeves.
The jackets
The Flight Jacket is a padded cotton canvas bomber with a YKK metal zip, rounded snap front pockets and a zipped sleeve pocket; the Hooded Flight Jacket adds a hood. The Johnston Jacket is garment dyed and heavily washed: its back logo is not printed, it is the imprint left by an appliqué removed in the wash. The Knitted Full Zip, new this season, is a chunky knit zip cardigan with a relaxed, boxy fit.

Caps and the rest of the wardrobe
The Original Sixpanel Hat is a washed cotton six-panel cap with an unstructured front and a brown leather strap, made in the USA; the O Sixpanel Hat carries a large felt O. Around them you will find the Boat Pants, a wide pleated trouser, the Logo T-Shirt and the stonewashed DRS denim jacket.
Blundstone x Pop Trading Company
Released on 22 July 2026, it is the first collaboration between the two brands, after more than three years of development according to Blundstone. The #2622 Double Black is a Chelsea boot in water-resistant oiled black suede, with burnished toes and a hair-on leather pull tab; Pop states it is made in Vietnam.

How does Pop Trading Company fit?
Pop does not publish a general size guide: each product page has its own chart, in centimetres, measured flat on the garment. Every piece comes in letter sizes, from S to XL. The charts below use the measurements published by the brand. On our product pages, our 180 cm, 65 kg model wears a size M.
DRS jeans: no inch sizing
Unlike most jeans, the DRS is not sold in waist/leg sizes but in S, M, L and XL, with a single inseam length. The waist figure is measured flat, from one edge of the waistband to the other: doubled, it gives the garment's waist circumference.
| Size | Flat waist | Garment waist | Inseam | Flat leg opening |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 38 cm | 76 cm | 80 cm | 20 cm |
| M | 41 cm | 82 cm | 80 cm | 21 cm |
| L | 44 cm | 88 cm | 80 cm | 22 cm |
| XL | 47 cm | 94 cm | 80 cm | 23 cm |
Measurements published by Pop for the DRS Denim Pants. The raw denim DRS Arch shows the same flat waist and inseam. The most reliable way to choose is to measure the waistband of a pair of jeans you already own, laid flat, and compare.
Sweats and T-shirts
| Size | Logo Hooded Sweat: flat chest | Logo Hooded Sweat: sleeve | Logo T-Shirt: flat chest | Logo T-Shirt: length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 56 cm | 75 cm | 54 cm | 70 cm |
| M | 59 cm | 76 cm | 57 cm | 72 cm |
| L | 62 cm | 77 cm | 60 cm | 74 cm |
| XL | 66 cm | 79 cm | 65 cm | 76 cm |
The chest is measured flat, from armpit to armpit. A size M hoodie therefore measures around 118 cm around the chest: a roomy fit, although Pop does not describe it as oversized. Take your usual size for a relaxed drape, and one size down if you want a closer fit.
Jackets and trousers
| Size | Flight Jacket: chest | Flight Jacket: length | Johnston Jacket: chest | Johnston Jacket: length | Boat Pants: flat waist | Boat Pants: inseam |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 61 cm | 69 cm | 55 cm | 67 cm | 40 cm | 69 cm |
| M | 64 cm | 71 cm | 58 cm | 68 cm | 42 cm | 70 cm |
| L | 67 cm | 73 cm | 61 cm | 69 cm | 44 cm | 71 cm |
| XL | 70 cm | 75 cm | 64 cm | 70 cm | 46 cm | 72 cm |
Flat measurements published by Pop. The Flight Jacket is clearly roomier than the Johnston Jacket (6 cm more flat in the same size, so 12 cm around): it leaves more room for a sweat underneath. The Boat Pants have a "wide loose" fit with pleats at the waist and a shorter inseam than the DRS, so they sit just above the shoe.
Where are Pop Trading Company clothes made?
According to the brand's product pages, most T-shirts, sweats and DRS denim jeans are made in Portugal. The jackets, the Boat Pants and the Knitted Full Zip are made in China, the Sixpanel caps in the USA and the Blundstone boots in Vietnam. The origin of each piece is shown on its product page.
For wide trousers in one size, see our Kappy Design guide. For another European pair of jeans with a generous cut, see how mfpen fits.
