How Do G.H.BASS Weejuns Fit? Larson Size Guide
Larson, Weejuns 90s and Step: the G.H.BASS loafers in the AURA selection compared by sole, construction and sizes. The official Larson chart, what it already includes, and how to avoid sizing down twice.
Not all Weejuns are the same. At AURA, the G.H.BASS loafers come in three versions of the Larson, the brand's penny loafer: the leather-soled Weejuns Larson, the Weejuns 90s on an EVA lug sole, and the Step on a rubber sole. For all three, G.H.BASS publishes the same fit note and a Larson-specific size chart based on foot length. This guide uses that official data, explains how to read it without sizing down twice, and compares the pieces actually sold at AURA: sole, construction, leather and available sizes. The Jetty, the brand's boat shoe, is covered separately. The full selection is in the G.H.BASS collection.
In short
- Fit: G.H.BASS states that its men's Larson styles fit generously. Its Larson chart, based on foot length, already takes this into account: use it as it is, without sizing down a second time.
- Leather sole: the Weejuns Larson, sold at AURA as the Weejun Heritage Larson, in black, wine, chocolate and brown.
- Chunky lug sole: the Weejuns 90s, on a lightweight EVA sole.
- In between: the Step, whose profile sits, according to G.H.BASS, between the classic leather sole and the lug sole.
- Width: "regular" on these European product pages. No other width is offered there.
How do G.H.BASS Weejuns fit?
G.H.BASS states that its men's Larson styles fit generously. The brand does, however, publish a Larson-specific chart that already takes this fit into account. So use the chart's size as it is: do not size down a second time. This guidance appears on the European pages for the Weejuns Larson, the Weejuns 90s and the Step. It does not apply to the Jetty, which is not a Larson.

Source: the men's Larson chart G.H.BASS publishes on its European product pages. The millimetre column is foot length, measured standing, from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe: this is the method the brand gives. It is not the inside length of the shoe or the length of the last.
How to use the chart
The Larson chart is the only figure-based guidance G.H.BASS publishes for these styles. Start from your foot length, read the matching size and order it as it is: the generous fit the brand mentions is already built in. If you are between sizes, G.H.BASS notes that foot width, socks and personal preference also play a part. The AURA team can help you decide.
Half sizes
G.H.BASS offers its Larsons in UK half sizes, shown with their EU equivalent (UK 7.5 = EU 41.5, UK 8.5 = EU 42.5). At AURA, the Larsons are sold in EU sizes 40 to 45; some references also come in 41.5 and 42.5. Above 43, G.H.BASS's European scale moves in uneven steps: UK 9.5 = EU 44, UK 10 = EU 44.5, UK 10.5 = EU 45.
Width, last and break-in
- Width: G.H.BASS lists "regular width" on the European pages of all three Larsons. No narrow or wide fitting is offered there.
- Last: the brand does not publish a last name or measurement, and does not say whether the three styles share one. We do not infer it from photos.
- Break-in: G.H.BASS writes that the leather naturally softens and moulds to the foot with wear. The brand gives no figure: nothing says it amounts to half a size.
- Heel: G.H.BASS gives no guidance on heel slip, and no heel height.
- Socks: their thickness changes the volume available inside the shoe. G.H.BASS lists it among the factors affecting fit, with no size advice attached.
G.H.BASS Larson: how does it fit?

Weejuns Larson in Chocolate: side, top and leather sole with rubber heel tap.
The Weejuns Larson is G.H.BASS's original penny loafer, sold at AURA as the Weejun Heritage Larson. The brand describes a traditional heritage construction using hand-sewn techniques from 1936. Polished leather upper, unlined interior, padded leather insole with gold foil stamping, leather sole with a rubber midsole and rubber heel tap. G.H.BASS describes it as hand-stitched in tonal thread with a reinforced welt stitch, and made in El Salvador. At AURA: Black, Wine, Chocolate and Brown. It follows the Larson chart above. G.H.BASS gives no heel height, no weight, and does not say whether the sole can be replaced.
Weejuns 90s and Step: the other Larsons

From left to right: Larson, Weejuns 90s Larson, Step Larson. G.H.BASS packshots on the same background, but the scale is not guaranteed from one photo to the next.
Weejuns 90s Larson
The Weejuns 90s Larson Wine pairs the penny loafer with a chunky EVA lug sole, which G.H.BASS presents as lightweight. The brand specifies tubular moccasin construction, hand-stitched seams in waxed thread, a 360-degree tonal mini storm welt and a tonal midsole stripe. Polished leather, unlined, leather heel sock with gold foil branding, made in El Salvador. It is the chunkiest profile in the selection. G.H.BASS does not publish the sole thickness. Same Larson chart.
Weejuns Step Larson
The Step (Black, Wine) is built on a step welt which, according to G.H.BASS, merges the sole with the loafer and gives a profile between the classic leather sole and the lug sole. Underfoot: a 4 mm cushioned midsole and an XL Baltimore rubber sole, anti-slip and durable. Brushed and polished moc leather, handsewn with tonal stitching, unlined, made in El Salvador. Same Larson chart.

Soles of the Larson (leather with rubber heel tap), the Weejuns 90s (EVA lug) and the Step (rubber). Scale not guaranteed.
Which G.H.BASS Weejun should you choose?
| Model | Sole | Construction according to G.H.BASS | Leather | Sizes at AURA | Sizing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weejuns Larson | Leather, rubber midsole and heel tap | Hand-stitched, reinforced welt stitch, 1936 techniques | Polished leather, unlined | 40 to 45, with 41.5 and 42.5 on some colours | Larson chart |
| Weejuns 90s Larson | Chunky EVA lug | Tubular moccasin, 360-degree mini storm welt | Polished leather, unlined | 40 to 45, with 42.5 | Larson chart |
| Weejuns Step Larson | XL Baltimore rubber, 4 mm midsole | Step welt | Brushed and polished moc leather, unlined | 40 to 45, with 42.5 on the black | Larson chart |
All three are made in El Salvador according to G.H.BASS. The brand publishes no heel height, sole thickness or weight, so the table only compares what is documented.
Larson or Weejuns 90s?
The same penny loafer upper and the same size chart. The Larson sits on a leather sole with a rubber heel tap; the Weejuns 90s on a chunky EVA lug sole, with tubular moccasin construction. The first keeps the original profile, the second clearly changes the silhouette, chunkier underfoot.
Larson or Step?
The Step swaps the leather sole for an anti-slip rubber sole with 4 mm of cushioning, while keeping, according to G.H.BASS, an in-between profile thanks to the step welt. The Larson remains the only style in the selection on a leather sole.
Weejuns 90s or Step?
Both have synthetic soles. The 90s has the chunkiest lug sole; the Step has a rubber sole that G.H.BASS places between the leather sole and the lug sole.
Which G.H.BASS Larson should you choose?
- For a leather sole: the Weejuns Larson, in black, wine, chocolate or brown.
- For more cushioning and grip: the Step, with a 4 mm midsole and an anti-slip sole.
- For a chunky silhouette: the Weejuns 90s, on an EVA lug sole.
Your size does not change from one model to another: all three follow the same Larson chart.
What about the Jetty?

The Jetty is a boat shoe, not a Weejuns loafer. The two colours in the selection, Earth and Mid Brown, carry the reference BA20322, which G.H.BASS sells as the Jetty II 2 Eye. Suede, leather laces, cushioned insole, rubber sole, handsewn with tonal thread, made in El Salvador. The Larson fit note does not apply to it, and G.H.BASS publishes no Jetty-specific sizing advice. The brand offers it in whole UK sizes only: for the exact match with your size, ask the AURA team.
Measuring your foot for the Larson chart
- Stand with your heel against a wall, on a sheet of paper on the floor.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe, then measure from the heel to the mark, in millimetres.
- Measure both feet and keep the longer measurement.
- Read the matching size in the Larson chart and order it as it is, without sizing down a second time.
If you are unsure between two sizes, the AURA team can advise you in our Rennes store or by message.

Frequently asked questions
How does G.H.BASS fit?
It depends on the style. For its men's Larsons (Weejuns Larson, Weejuns 90s, Step), G.H.BASS states a generous fit and publishes a Larson chart that already takes it into account. The Jetty is not covered by that note.
Do Weejuns run large?
For men's Larsons, G.H.BASS states a generous fit. Its Larson chart already accounts for it: use the chart's size as it is, without sizing down a second time.
What size should I take in G.H.BASS Larsons?
Measure your foot standing, from the heel to the longest toe, and read the size in the Larson chart. For example, a 280 to 284 mm foot corresponds to UK 8, EU 42, US Men's 9.
Should I go half a size down with G.H.BASS?
Not on top of the Larson chart: it already accounts for the generous fit. Choose the size that matches your foot length, without sizing down a second time.
What is the difference between the Larson and the Weejuns 90s?
The sole: leather with a rubber heel tap on the Larson, chunky EVA lug on the Weejuns 90s, with tubular moccasin construction. The size chart is the same.
What is the difference between the Larson and the Step?
The Step replaces the leather sole with an anti-slip rubber sole and 4 mm of cushioning, built with a step welt. Same size chart.
Do G.H.BASS loafers stretch?
G.H.BASS writes that the leather softens and moulds to the foot with wear, without putting a figure on it. Do not count on gaining half a size: choose the size from the chart.
Where can I buy G.H.BASS in France?
