Why Aura selected it

G.H. Bass is an American footwear brand founded in 1876 in Wilton, Maine, by George Henry Bass. Initially specialising in sturdy shoes for local farmers and loggers, the brand made history in 1936 by creating the Weejun, the world's very first penny loafer. Inspired by a Norwegian farmer's shoe and recognisable by the cut-out on its strap, where American students would later take to slipping a penny, the Weejun quickly became a staple of the American wardrobe.
Charles Lindbergh wore Bass on his transatlantic flight in 1927, and Michael Jackson wore black Weejuns in the Thriller video in 1983. Today, G.H. Bass remains the reference for loafers and penny loafers for men and women. Available in Rennes at Aura Store and on our online shop.
