Why Aura selected it
Kamakura Shirts is a Japanese shirt brand founded in 1993 in Kamakura by Yoshio and Tamiko Sadasue, both formerly of VAN Jacket, the house that pioneered the Ivy League style in Japan in the 60s.
The story began above a convenience store, with a simple ambition: to make quality shirts accessible.
All production takes place in Japan, with single-needle felled seams, natural mother-of-pearl buttons and unfused interlinings. The dress shirts generally use two-ply yarns of 80s count or higher, while some Oxfords use thicker yarns.
Kamakura Shirts works directly with its Japanese mills and garment workshops, with no middlemen, which allows it to offer a level of make close to bespoke at a price well below the market.
The brand does not hold sales: its prices are fair from the start. Available in Rennes at Aura Store and on our online shop.
